Kampala Structures Review (Uganda)

The Ugandan National Roads Authority (UNRA) commissioned Arup to undertake the Structural Technical Review of three structures: Clocktower Flyover (which is 366m long multi-span and overall deck width of 9-9.75m), Shoprite & Clocktower Footbridges. The design was undertaken by joint venture between Nippon Koei Co Ltd and Eight-Japan Engineering Consultants Inc in association with ICS-Engineering & Environment Ltd.
Vanguard World was responsible for the review of the suitability and design philosophy of the foundations used for the above structures which consisted of screw piles of 1.0 to 1.20m diameter and up to 18m length CHS sections with a helix at the base.
