Geotechnics and Soil Investigations

Depending on the nature of the structure to be supported by the ground and the loading applied, soil investigation is usually recommended by our geotechnical engineers and geologists to determine the ground conditions of the site and it’s carrying capacity.

This is usually carried out through the specification of a Ground Investigation (GI) works to determine the ground properties of the site. A range of in-situ and laboratory soil design parameters is determined for the GI results. These are presented in the form of Ground Investigation Factual Report. The GI Factual Report forms the basis of the Geotechnical Design Report (GDR) which the structural engineers use to design your structures foundations, retaining walls, road pavement etc. The above process allows our customers to reduce the risks associated with ground uncertainties and allow for an economic foundations design. The above will help with the risks associated with foundation failure or excessive settlement which will likely affect your investment.

We at Vanguard Solutions will deploy early on your project, our fully experienced professional geologists and geotechnical engineers and plan your project from inception. When necessary, we also provide our geotechnical engineers services as part of our structural surveys.

In summary we can offer the following services:

  • Site investigations for private & commercial properties.
  • Site investigations for infrastructures i.e. road & rail, bridges, retaining walls, foundations etc.
  • Geotechnical investigations for historic buildings.
  • Subsidence investigations.
  • Geotechnical monitoring

So, whether you are based in Birmingham and surroundings, Bristol, London or Manchester – Vanguard Solutions will be delighted to provide you with the engineering support you need for your project. No project is too small for us.
